About The Coaches

Coach Healy is in his seventh year coaching at Paul VI. Prior to joining the
PVI staff, Coach Healy was an assistant at James Madison High School for two
years and he assisted the Vienna Wrestling program for three years before
that. Coach Healy started wrestling in High School at Our Lady of Good
Counsel(9th grade) and then at Robert E. Peary in Rockville, Maryland(10th-
12th grade). The Peary varsity wrestlers went undefeated during his three
years there and outscored their opponents by an average of 34 points a
match. The Peary Huskies were coached by Duane Black, a Maryland Hall of
Fame coach who lost only one dual match in the 1970's. Coach Healy placed
third in the Montgomery County tournament in 1974 at 145lbs and was the
Montgomery County Champion in 1975 at 138lbs. He also placed second in the
Maryland Western Regionals in 1975 and was one of four Peary wrestlers to
compete at the State Tournament. He was recruited to wrestle in college at
Virginia Commonwealth University but a recurring knee injury (from football)
quickly ended his college wrestling career.

Coach Mike Eastman also returns for his seventh year. Mike wrestled for two
years at George Mason University at 184lbs and 197lbs. In high school, he
placed third in the New Jersey state tournament. He was 36-3 his senior
year, registering 26 pins,31-5 as a junior and 26-8 his sophomore year.

Coach Demario "Mario" Leathers joins us this year to work with our middle
weights. Mario was a 3x place winner in North Carolina (4th, 4th and 3rd) and
finished with a 175-31 record.
