Three Dimensional Box State Maps
The seventh grade will be responsible for producing a three dimensional state map in a box. These maps need to reflect at least three different themes of their state (such as obesity rates, fast food restaurants, and interstate highways) and have their displays based on cited data. The maps will be put on public display during the International Fair. Remember to not make them too fragile, as they will be out in the hallway for a couple of days. While there are few restrictions on size and format, the students are encouraged to be creative in making their maps.
RESTRICTIONS: 1. Needs to fit in a box 2. Needs: map scale, compass rose, map title, legend
The maps will be graded on the following areas: informative presentation (50%), overall appearance (25%), creativity (15%), and effort (10%).
The students will do research on their state and are required to present their maps during a class period. They need to provide the basic background information of their state to their classmates. This information will need to include (but not limited to): the founding of the state, general climate patterns, famous events, fascinating people, remarkable places and a description of the capital. This background information needs to be typed, contain a works cited page, and will be turned into the teacher after the presentation.
The maps will be due on MAY 1st. Set up on April 30th. |
