Homework

Daily homework 2nd Grade:

Every night your child is expected to bring home their black and white composition book (HOG- Homework Log) AND their Homework Folder. Inside the HOG will be written question or information for you to look at. It is usually something specific you can discuss with your child about school. This information is copied off of the board as practice of transferring information.

Homework Expectations for Students and Parents Of course your child is expected to do their homework each night. They are also expected to bring their homework back the next day to class. Any homework that involves writing not on a worksheet must be written in the HOG. If an assignment involves anything written, I will look there for completed work. Since there are 25 students in class it is not time effective for me to go over and check individual homework obviously. I do check to see if the homework is returned each day and that parents either initialed or wrote a note. If it is not, the consequence is that your child loses their free time after lunch. Each night it is the parent's responsibility to check and make sure their child's homework is correct. Parent's are also responsible to sign off every night on their child's homework. When a parent signs, it tells me that they have gone over their child's work, and that the work and effort put forth by their child is acceptable to them.

Homework Folder

To help you organize your time, each week a Homework Packet will be sent home in the Homework Folder. This packet will include the homework for the week with practice reinforcements of what we are learning. Any worksheets inside of the Homework Folder may be completed at any time. There is no homework over the weekends, however if you would like, it is an option to complete unfinished homework at that time if you had a busy night during the week. The only requirement on the worksheets included in the Homework Folder is that they are completed by Monday.

Daily Homework 3rd Grade:

I will be trying to design the homework for 3rd grade this year to be similar to the homework last year by giving all the work for the week to you in advance. I understand the "real world" and that some evenings are busier than others. So as before, you can do homework in advance as well as be free to catch up on the weekends.

Homework Expectations for Students and Parents in 3rd grade

Of course your child is expected to do their homework each night. They are also expected to bring their homework back the next day to class. I will look there for completed work. Since there are 20-25 students in class it is not time effective for me to go over and check individual homework obviously. I do check to see if the homework is returned each day. If it is not, the consequence is that your child loses their free time after lunch.

Each night it is the parent's responsibility to check and make sure their child's homework is correct. Parents are also responsible to sign off every night on their child's homework. When a parent signs, it tells me that they have gone over their child's work, and that the work and effort put forth by their child is acceptable to them, and their child's best effort.

Here's what your 3rd Grade Homework Organizer will look like!
