We have an exciting year ahead of us! To get us started on our journey here are some quick and easy things to get your child “warmed-up” for 2^nd grade! Parents, please focus on these sites as they will prepare your child the best for the upcoming skills.Feel free to explore the other links, but let the kids know that these are the most important for right now! ~Mr. W!

 

MATH

Below are website links to math games that will strengthen the core skills your child will need to know for the first 9 weeks of school. The quicker they are in identifying their facts and number combinations, the stronger they will be for the new information we teach in 2^nd grade! PLUS… isn’t this FUN practice! If you do not have a computer, you can play games such as Go-Ten, Name That Number, and Indian feather with cards. Or you can play Othello or Connect 4 that will reinforce strategic thinking and problem solving. (They will learn to think several moves in advance with practice!

READING

Begin to practice again 10-15 minutes at night.

 

WRITING

For practice, you can make up stories both in writing and orally with your family!
