Effective September 2006, Virginia Beach City Public Schools will offer
parents the opportunity to make payments – via an online account – for their
child’s meals (breakfast, lunch and a la carte items) using Visa,
Mastercard, or a debit card. This online service, offered through
mySchoolBucks.com, will allow parents of students to prepay money directly
into their child’s account; monitor their child’s food purchases; set up low-
balance e-mail reminders; and schedule recurring payments.
Parents have the opportunity to create an account and access this service
via the school division’s Web site – vbschools.com- by selecting the
category Lunch Menus/Food Services on the home page. For privacy, a user
must know the student’s ID number, birth date and name to add them to an
account. As an added security, balances and purchase history are not
displayed on the Web site until the account is validated with the first
payment.
The online service provider – mySchoolBucks.com – charges a 3% convenience
fee that is added to each transaction. To open an account, users must be 18
