Week of November 24 - 28
Always READ!! READ OVER THE BREAK.
New reading logs were given out today, Monday. There are six spaces to be
completed each week. You may sign daily or once for the whole week. Your
child is to answer the question for the day based on the section of the book
they read. Logs will be collected every Monday and replaced with new logs.
NO WORD STUDY THIS WEEK.
Math - After reviewing the next sections of Unit 4, the test would be
coming at an awkward time. I talked with the class and explained that the
test would not contain the material we have not reviewed. About 98% of the
children felt that they would prefer to have the test on Tuesday, rather
than Wednesday or the Monday/Tuesday back from Thanksgiving. As I explained
to the children this is probably the last unit that contains mostly review
material. As you can see from the study guide, the main emphasis is on
addition and subtraction of decimals and measuring. Both of these areas the
class has done very well on. I do not see anyone having difficulty with the
test. However if someone does, I will work with that individual separately.
I also bounced these options over with the math specialist and she also
thought that this would be the best way for the children.
