May 24th Assessment Results: 
Reading Weekly: UNIT 6, Story 3:  Weekly Assessment on "Cool Jobs" reading a Time For Kids article.  Students did very well on this test, once again!  100% of students (that took the test) earned 88% or better!  Yeah!!
UNIT 6 in Math BRIDGES: Farming:  Purchasing Farm Equipment and Farm Animals.  We are continuing to work on Portfolios as well as our Farming Unit.  Students have already purchased their barn and farmhouse, silo and this week, we will purchased a few sheep and pigs:-)  Students are spending plenty of farmbucks!  Culminating Activity:  FARM FAIR:  100% successful!!
Life Cycle of a Plant/Seeds:  This unit is a short, 2 week unit.  We are presently discussing the jobs of each plant part.


K-4 FIELD TRIP PLANS:  WALK TO THE REC CENTER, THEN TO BOSTON POST DAIRY FOR A SHORT VISIT AND CHEESE SAMPLING, NEXT TO DAIRY CENTER FOR PIZZA, BOWLING AND DANCING!!  Back to MES for 2:30 pm and regular bus dismissal.  We will have a terrific day together!!  The kids really deserve it too:-)

   Farm Unit Goals Met:   mental calculation with large amounts of money; farms and farm animal understanding; importance of responsibilities and careful work; reasoning in planning and an introduction to fractions. 

The FIRST GRADERS were so happy with their FARM FAIR today!  Thank you to each of you for taking the time to attend our culminating activity!  It meant the world to us!  Thank you again and we hope you enjoyed yourselves:-)
