I graduated from Richford Jr.-Sr. High School in 1991 and began my degree
program in Elementary Education and Teacher of the Handicapped at Lyndon State
College. In 1995, I graduated with honors, as a Special Educator, Reading
Teacher and Elementary Educator. My first teaching position was in Derby, VT
at NCUJHS, and then I taught at Richford High School for two years. In 1999,
I started my Master's Program through both UVM and Johnson State; graduating
with my Masters as an Education/ Reading Specialist in 2004.
I was hired at Montgomery Elementary School only 2 days before my wedding day
in 1999! (That was a crazy week:-)) Since at Montgomery, I've been the 3rd
and 4th grade teacher, Reading Coach and now, 1st grade:-) Last year, I was
so honored to be awarded as an "Outstanding Teacher of the Year" through UVM
and FNESU.
I really enjoy teaching first grade. First graders are amazing; students are
so surprised to put their skills together and create their own products: to
become real readers and really see their "rocket" traveling up with each
assessment...the twinkle is pretty cool and makes every school day an
important day!
