Dear Kindergarten and 1st Grade Parents, 2011-2012
I would like to take this time to say hello and introduce myself if you don't
know me. My name is Lauren Indendi and I am very excited to be teaching
Kindergarten /1st grade. I look forward to a yearlong partnership with you
in the education of your child which will make them successful in my
classroom. The design of my lessons will enable me to give your child as
much individualized attention as possible. I believe that students and
parents take an active role in learning that builds on reading, writing,
communication and critical thinking skills. My classroom will be fun and
filled with learning opportunities for all styles of learners. Please use
the District's webpage: www.capeflattery.wednet.edu for my classroom
information and updates.
Folders - Homework - Newsletters: Each student in Kindergarten and 1st grade
will be a given a folder (or you can supply one) that will be sent home daily.
The folders will contain their completed work from that day along with
homework. Kindergarten and 1st grade will have homework that will be due
daily. Every Monday I will send home a newsletter that will include
important classroom and school wide information for the week
Supplies: For this year these are the supplies I would like your child to
have on the first day of school: 2 boxes of tissues. 2 tubs of Clorox
wipes. I will supply pencils, crayons, erasers, glue sticks, scissors, and a
backpack if needed.
Classroom Rules: My classroom will not effectively function as an educational
setting if students do not respect themselves and the rights of others. I
will not allow my students to display behaviors which interfere with the
learning process and safe environment of all students. I have a few simple
classroom rules that I give all my students. We practice examples of these
rules and I expect them to comply.
The CHAMPS Rule:
C-Conversation H-Help A-Activity M-Movement P-Participation S-Success
Parents in the classroom: Student's success in my classroom will be achieved
through our mutual communication, cooperation and effort. I look forward to
the opportunity to share in this partnership with you and your child.
Parents are always welcome in my classroom and I encourage you to visit, but
I ask that for the first few weeks of school you not visit so we can
establish a classroom routine. After that I welcome you into our classroom,
but please follow the school procedure for visitations.
Questions and Concerns: I can be reached in the classroom at 963-2093. I
welcome any information that will help me make this a successful year for
your child. Please fill out the enclosed questions and return on the first
day of school.
Mrs. Indendi
