We are implementing Rebecca Sitton's approach to learning and correctly spelling high frequency words. There are 1200 words in Sitton Spelling Sourcebook Series by Egger Publishing, Inc. Fourth graders are responsible for words 1 through 500 this year.
The words listed below (#421-500) are the introduced core words in Fourth Grade.

There is NO weekly spelling list. There is a "No Excuses" spelling words list. The goal is that the "no excuses" words are spelled and used correctly in students' everyday writing. No excuses words are taken from a list of the most frequently used words in the English language.

Students are also exposed to "Topical Words" which are ones that correlate with our grade level reading, math, social studies and science curricula. We will be assessing student need by frequent spelling checks using their daily writing projects in all areas.
