Twilight Transitional Learning Program

 

Twilight Program Description

There are students in all high schools who have struggled to find academic success for one reason or another. 
This pilot program for the 2010/2011 school year is designed to identify those students and provide them a transitional learning opportunity housed in their respective high school.  Twilight is a transitional academic intervention program to assist students in finding academic success.  Twilight, an after school program aligned to State Alternative Learning requirements through a site based teacher/mentor model while taking credit retrieval courses online.


Students entering the program will agree and sign a Transitional Learning Contract.  This contract will be developed by the student, Care Team, and parent/guardian. This Contract will also act as the students Learning Plan, outlining the courses this student must take to retrieve the appropriate graduation requirements. Other items in the contract are the parameters for attendance and behavior expectations.


This program is designed for students in their respective Clover Park and Lakes High School attendance areas. 
Out of District students will not be considered at this time for entry. Eligible students for this program will be selected by a CARE Team. This team will consist of  the student, mentor/advisor, School Counselor, Parent/Guardian, and other educators who know the student.  Students will be selected based on class credit deficiency, attendance and behavior records, and recommendations from Care Team Members. 

Twilight is meant to provide a transitional learning experience to aid in finding and fostering student success.  To exit students from this program with requisite skills, credits, and opportunities to transition back into their respective High School, transfer to Lakewood Career Academy, Northwest Career and Tech High School, or other GED/diploma/career prep program.

Location and Transportation

Clover Park and Lakes High Schools will have designated classrooms for this program. Transportation options are as available or applicable:  bus tickets,  family or self transportation, school activity bus.


Schedule

This program will run from 2:30-5:30 M-F.


Student Expectations

Student attendance is nonnegotiable.  Students will have required seat time in these online programs and Leadership/Student Success Planning (JAG) classes.  Failure of courses, poor behavioral choices, and or poor attendance may lead to removal from the program.

Students interested in the Twilight Program of CPHS and Lakes are encouraged to contact the Twilight teachers of their high school, or talk with their counselors at their school.
