PUMPKIN CHARACTERS

For our October Book Report we focused on Character Development. We discussed the appearance, attitude and action of a character. We explored how an author makes a character come alive for the reader. We then chose a character from the book we read, and using our creativity, made a "Pumpkin Character" which was displayed in our Library. The project also included a brief write up of the physical appearance, the attitude(emotional) and the actions of our characters. We were required to give an example of a simile, an alliteration, and an onomatopoeia in our write up. A school wide contest was held to select the most creative, the best use of materials, the cutest, etc. It was a great success!

Mesopotamia Empires

To enhance our study of the different Empires of Mesopotamia, we created "mechanical dioramas" and performed for Ms. Martell, Mr. Kilpatricks' classes and Mrs. Boerke. Using our textbooks we read about our assigned empire, wrote scripts for each person, gathered props, and decided how we wanted to "stage" our productions. We included two major achievements of the empire and then explained whether it was a weakness or strength for the empire.
