Message from the Principal
Hello Mann Families:
Can you believe it?, it is May already! As we approach the end of the school year I want to say thank you to all parents/guardians and staff members for your support throughout this school year. You will always have the greatest impact on our Mustangs’ education.
We are currently in our assessment window for students. Please be sure that your students get a good night of rest and a healthy meal to start their day. This will assist in giving them the best testing experience on the MSP (Measure of Student Progress) assessment.
Parents please engage in discussions with your students early about their academic progress. You have the greatest impact on their efforts towards achieving at high levels. Please discuss their current levels of performance and their SMART goals for achieving at higher levels. This is a great way to be involved in your student’s education. Do not wait. If you have questions or need to have a conference, contact your student’s teachers immediately to determine how to support his/her academic growth.
At the end of each year we celebrate our 8th graders moving on to high school. Please check announcements for this date. Also, please be sure to speak with your 8th grader about making positive academic and behavior choices during this time so they are able to attend this event.
Reverse Suspensions: I want to inform you that as of May 15, 2013 we will begin Reverse Suspensions. This means that if a student chooses to engage in behaviors that warrant a short term suspension, we will enforce the suspension beginning with the last day of school and work backwards. For example, a 3 days suspension will be enforced on the last 3 days of school. The reason for this type of suspension is to preserve the maximum amount of instructional time for your student. A reverse suspension will most likely impact those fun activities that happen during the last days of school. Behaviors that are severe and warrant immediate action will be handled as normal. It is important for you to discuss this with your students to help insure that they do not make choices that cause them to lose their end of year activities.
Dress Code and Behavior Expectations:
Please be sure to review the dress and behavior expectations with your students. These can be found in your students’ agenda books.
Thank you for your ongoing support and for remembering that, Your Future is Now!
