MRS. KARNOFSKI
I have taught in the Auburn School District for my entire teaching career.
During that time I have taught a variety of grade levels from 1st through
7th and Special Education.
After transferring to Mt. Baker the second year it was open, I knew I had
found the spot I wanted to be. Seventh grade is by far the favorite of any
grade level I have taught and I love Mt. Baker!
I retired in 2004, but really did not want to leave the profession for good.
Fortunately, Mrs. Kemp was desiring more time with her young son and and 'a
job share made in Heaven' came about.
The last four years Mrs. Kemp and I have shared reponsibilities. I teach
Monday / Tuesday and Mrs. Kemp finishes out the week.
When not in the classroom, I am busy with my 15 year old daughter Alexis,
who is a 10th grader at Auburn High School. She has been very involved in
fast pitch over the last few years and is now taking on golf and tennis. She
is a great kid and an Honor student. Along with sports, she has become very
involved in the drama productions - between academics and activities, she
stays very busy - and keeps me busy also!
I am also and avid reader and member of several book clubs. Spare time is
often spent quilting ( my obsession), scrap booking, or at one of my
daughter's games or activities.
Other members of our family are a fat, white cat named Snowball.
I look forward to meeting a new class in September - every year is the
beginning of a new journey!
MRS. KEMP
I have been in the Auburn School District for most of my teaching career. I
have been fortunate to teach at several different schools during the past
twelve years and have enjoyed being at Mt. Baker for the last eight years.
My extra time is spent with my family right now. Many of you have already
had my husband for a teacher, Mr. Kemp. He teaches Computer Applications at
Mt. Baker. I have a very busy and fun three-year old named Joshua. Our
second son joined us last spring, Alexander. I am sure I will have lots of
stories to tell you about these two.
I am blessed to have the opportunity to job share with Mrs. Karnofski so I
can be home on Mondays and Tuesdays and at school Wednesday-Friday. Mrs.
Karnofski and I work well together and communicate regularly to be sure that
things in our class go smoothly.
I love animals but the only pets we have right now are of the "stuffed"
variety. I enjoy reading but haven't had as much time for that lately.
I am looking forward to getting to know my new group of students. We will
have a year filled with success and fun!
