This is my fifth year at Mount Baker Middle School. I also taught
intermediate grades in the Kent School District for 15 years. One of my
teaching highlights was taking part in a teacher exchange program in Sydney,
Australia for one year. What an experience it was to teach "down under".
I graduated many years ago from the University of Washington and I
completed my Masters (2006) in Curriculum and Instruction in Literacy
through Lesley University.
I have several beliefs and goals for my students:
All students can learn and benefit from education.
All students must feel nurtured and secure.
All students need support from parents and the community.
Academic Goals -
To create a climate of high expectation, excellent instruction, and
achievement which challenges students of all ability levels, fosters active
discovery, critical thinking, problem solving, and an understanding and
application of subject matter.
Personal Goals -
To promote the discovery of everyone's gifts and to encourage the sharing of
those gifts.
Climate Goals -
To establish and maintain a safe, caring, and nurturing environment for all
students.
Communication Goals -
To establish and maintain consistent and effective avenues of communication
among students, parents, community, and staff in order to maximize the
potential for student success.
