Frequently Asked Questions: This page contains answers to common questions of students and parents.
  1. Does my student have homework?
  2. Do we have to do problems of the week? They're so hard!
  3. My child was ill today. What homework does he have?

Does my student have homework?

Yes! Check the homework link to see what was assigned. If they say it's
done, say, "Great! I'd love to see that!" When you're satisfied that it is
done well, encourage your child to read, watch educational programming, or
play learning games on the computer. See my links for ideas. Students
should spend 45 minutes to an hour every day on homework. (See student
handbook.)

Do we have to do problems of the week? They're so hard!

They are challenging! What a great opportunity to have math conversations
at home! Students have an opportunity to earn bonus points here, and I
expect them to earn 10 points every week. (There are at least 20 points
available every week!) So the answer is, yes, students need to give this
their best effort. I'll provide hints in class and occasionally on this
website.

My child was ill today. What homework does he have?

We fill out assignment logs every Monday, so your child knows what they need
to do for math.
