May 28-June 1--Work
mentioned on this site should be in your student's binder. I never collect
work early that is listed here. Please ask to see the work and check it for
completeness and quality. Thanks.
Grades close Friday, June 15, at
3:00. All late, re-do, or make-up work MUST be submitted by then with NO
EXCEPTIONS, please. Thank you.
From now on, students staying after school must leave my
classroom at 2:45. Please make arrangements for your student to walk home or
get picked-up by someone at that time. Thank you.
* Please remember that whenever you are absent,
you need to come in before or stay after school so that we'll have time to get
you caught up. I have before and after school duty on Thursdays, and
occasionally I have other meetings to attend, so please check ahead of time to
make sure I'm available. Thanks.

7th Grade Language Arts:
-- All
periods have received a copy of the final timeline for the puppet show and
know when they are to present. Students should have the "Choice Sheet" and the
"Plot Chart" completed. Please check Skyward. The next step is the rough draft
of the script which is due on FRIDAY. The final script is due on MONDAY (3
copies, please). Students also need to be making their puppets. Please send
all supplies in to school in a brown paper sack with the students' names and
period on them.
--Book Buddy entries #1-5 should now be
complete. We will do Entry #6 on Friday and Entry #7 on Tuesday. The journals
will then be due. Please check that your student is keeping up with the
entries and the reading. Students should now read to Thursday night's end page
(see calendar).

6th Grade Ancient History:
--We are working on a rough draft of a "Mental
Map" of the world. Students will be asked next week to begin drawing our world
with only a blank sheet of white paper and a pencil. They will need to work
from memory to place the continents correctly in relation to the Prime
Meridian and Equator, to draw them proportionately, and to enter names of
countries, seas, oceans, mountains--really anything they've learned this year
from our Daily Geography continent maps.
--Students have until next week to review
atlases and maps for their Mental Maps.

7th Grade Language Arts:
--Book Buddy entries #1-5 now due (Period 1
excused from #3 and Period 3 excused from #4 due to MSP make-ups). We will do
Entry #6 on Friday and Entry #7 on Tuesday. Journals are due and will be
collected and scored on Wednesday, June 6. 78 POINTS! Please keep up with
reading schedule per your calendar. The prompts are on display in the
classroom.
--Puppet Script rough drafts are due this
Friday. Students will receive 20 points IF they have their script here for the
process of peer revision. These points cannot be made up. Textbooks are
available for checkout. The remainder of the points for this year have been
pre-entered on Skyward. Please check this site and Skyward often. Grades close
June 15, 3:00, and nothing may be made up after that time. I will be available
after school each day until 2:45 except Mondays. Arrange with your partner to
come in and work on your script and presentation. That's the best time to
rehearse inside the stage area. If your parents say okay, maybe you can meet
over the weekend to work. Please have your student bring in a brown paper
stand-up bag with the partners' names on the outside to keep their puppet
materials that have been brought from home. Students MUST bring in supplies
for their own puppets.
--Final, typed scripts (3 copies) are due
Monday, June 4, and will be scored that day (62 pts.). Bring in a flash
drive/memory stick if one of you wants to type here at school. Puppet show
presentations will be on June 11-14, and each student KNOWS when he/she
presents. Students MUST be prepared on their presentation date. The show MUST
go on (40 points).
6th Grade Ancient History:
--Due Friday, June 1 - Rough Draft #1 of the
World Mental Map (20 points). Students may check their maps with
atlases/computer world maps during the rough draft phase. On the FINAL map,
all work must be done FROM MEMORY, so please be studying and re-drawing your
map every night. The more roughs you complete, the better you will do on the
final. Students have received a copy of the requirements. These grades have
been pre-entered in Skyward so that families know what's coming.
--Due Wednesday, June 6 - Rough Draft #2 of the
World Mental Map (20 points).
--Due Thursday, June 14, FINAL Mental Map due
(with NO help from other maps), 65 points. I will be available after school
until 2:45 each day but Mondays to help students since all work must be in by
Friday, June 15, at 3:00. No work can be accepted after that. Thank you.
