I am so excited about the new school year and want to thank you for visiting
my website. I hope it is a resource you will use often. I have been
fortunate enough to teach here at OHHS since 1999 when my husband and I moved
to Oak Harbor from Texas. I attended college in Texas and have a BS and a MS
degree with a major in mathematics and a minor in English both of which I am
certified to teach in WA and TX. I taught in Texas for many years at the
high school and junior high levels. I also worked in the prison system
for three years teaching GED classes and working as a case manager. One of
the things I love most about teaching is seeing my students be successful.
Seeing their confidence grow with success is extremely rewarding for me. I
expect this year to be a great one for all of us. If you have questions,
please feel free to contact me anytime!
My mission to provide a safe and positive environment for my students where
they know they are free(and expected) to learn, ask questions, laugh, and
enjoy well earned success. I believe the atmosphere in the classroom and
positive, trusting relationships formed within a classroom are key components
to students being willing to take educational risks and know that they will
not be judged negatively. I believe students need to be met and accepted
where they are when they enter a classroom and that from there many successes
in learning can be acquired. Being able to have students expect success and
take pride in overcoming past obstacles and then exceed their own previous
expectations leads to meaningful learning. That is my mission, meaningful
learning and progress that is recognized by teacher and student
alike...opening the doors for future learning...
