We know we're a few days late on this, but we've FINALLY posted the 5 Finalists for our Best Website contest on our Facebook page at
https://www.facebook.com/TeacherWebInc
. You have from now until midnight next Wednesday, May 22nd, to vote on your favorite. The winner will receive a free year of TeacherWeb, and the 4 runners-up will get $15 Starbucks giftcards, so vote wisely! The Finalists' websites are posted in their own photo album on our Facebook page, so check those out first, visit the sites, click around, then come back and vote via our poll.
Thanks for your participation - we were amazed by all the entries and fantastic websites that we got to review, and if you didn't end up in the Top 5, know that it's because there are so many stellar educators out there using our products to reach their students and families that it was almost impossible for us to choose.
Thanks again,
The folks at TeacherWeb

December 10th, 2012 •DATES TO REMEMBER: December 12th – Half Day. AM attends. No PM Kindergarten. December 20th through January 2nd – School is closed for Winter Break. January 9th – Half Day. PM attends. No AM Kindergarten. January 21st – Martin Luther King Jr. Day. •This week’s homework is letter Dd. d is a quick sound. Our chant is: D says ‘d’. “dog on a doghouse” ‘d’ ‘d’ ‘d.’ •Blue Book homework: Every reading unit has 4 homework pages. In the beginning, the units were very easy to get the students used to the routines. Now that the units are getting harder, it can take more than 4 days to complete the unit. Some days there isn’t a new page to read. I still want your child reading from the blue book EVERY night, so there will be a note inside the blue book for you to initial asking you to re-read the most recent 4 homework pages. Every page you re-read is helping to improve their reading fluency and comprehension as well as build their self- confidence. •NEW SKILL TO PRACTICE: We are working on hearing the FIRST SOUND in words. It’s a great game for you to practice in the car. If you say “boy” your child needs to say the first sound they hear in the word, so he/she should say “b”. If you say “change” your child says “ch”. •After Winter Break your child will be given the DIBELS reading test. There are 4 tests given and all are timed for 1 minute. The tests are: First Sound Fluency -saying the first sound you hear in the word (30 correct in 1 minute is at grade level); Letter Naming Fluency -naming randomly placed capital and lower case letters correctly. Nonsense Word Fluency-seeing a word like “san” or hin and being able to sound it out even though it is not a real word (if your child doesn’t know all of the letter sounds yet keep practicing!) and Phoneme Segmentation Fluency I say a word and you tell me all the sounds (not letters) you hear in that word. For example if I say flag, your child would say ‘f’ ‘l’ ‘a’ ‘g’) •GLUE STICKS: Our new reading program uses glue A LOT, and as a result we are already running out of our year’s supply. If you are out and about and see glue sticks on sale we would appreciate picking up a few to get us through the rest of the year. Thanks so much! •NEXT WEEK: There will be no homework next week due to the short week. Homework will be back in January with the Letter “Ii”. Enjoy your Winter Break! If you have any questions feel free to contact me. lfaughen@cloverpark.k12.wa.us 583-5350
