CLASSROOM RULES
Dear Parents,
In order to guarantee my kindergarten students the effective learning
climate they deserve, I will utilize the following discipline plan.
The school wide rules are: (1) Follow directions, (2) Act in a safe
manner, (3) Be kind, and (4) Show respect.
There are six basic rules of behavior that students will learn in
class. They are: (1) Listen carefully – follow directions the first time
given, (2) Do your best, (3) Work quietly, (4) Raise your hand and wait to
be called upon before speaking, (5) Share – treat others with courtesy and
respect, and (6) Put your things away neatly.
As positive reinforcement for following these rules, the children will
receive verbal praise plus some class wide reinforcements. In addition,
students who follow the rules may earn individual rewards such as stickers
or certificates.
We will review the rules often. If a student chooses to not follow
the rules there will be consequences that will be used in the following
order: (1) Verbal warning – a verbal warning may be repeated if a student
just needs a reminder, (2) Three minute time-out/loss of center time, (3)
Lose all of center time and/or five-minutes of recess, and (4) Lose one
recess. You will be contacted if there is a serious or on-going problem.
If a student causes a severe problem, he/she will be sent to the principal.
This includes willfully hurting another child, willfully destroying
property, overtly refusing to do what a teacher asks, and engaging in
behavior that stops me from teaching or students from learning.
Along with learning the rules, your child will spend the first few
days of school learning the routines for various classroom activities.
Please let me know if your have any questions or comments. Thank you
for your support.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Charaba
Kindergarten Teacher
