I have been teaching at River's Edge High School since 1999 and I love
teaching here! The students and staff are awesome and I am convinced this is
the best science job in the whole district. I have a chemistry degree from
University of Oregon and I received my teaching credentials for University of
Illinois in 1985. My first teaching job was teaching chemistry and physics in
a private high school for students who wanted to be ballet dancers. My
students were from all over the U.S. - they went to school in the morning and
then danced all afternoon and evening. I then moved to the Tri-Cities in 1987
with my husband and my 6 month old son, Eric. Between 1992 and 1999 I taught
at CBC Early Childhood Education Department as a pre-school teacher and as a
parent educator. My daughter, Emily, was born two years later.
My husband, Tom, is a science researcher at PNNL. My son Eric is a Peace Corps
volunteer teaching science and math in Mozambique. Emily attends University
of Washington, majoring in vocal performance. To keep me busy I have many
animals on my farm - horses, chickens, cats, birds, fish and my sweet dog, Gracie.
To inspire my students about the amazing world we live in and to nurture
curiosity and knowledge in the way our world works. Let's do science and have
some fun along the way!!
