Social Studies

We are continuing our unit on Explorers and their impact on "The New World".  We will then move into a unit on Lewis and Clark and the Westward Expansion.
1/3/12
As 4th grade social studies mainly focuses on the westward movement, first from Europe and then across the United States, we will be starting January with a unit on the explorers.

10/13  We are currently working on understanding maps.  We are working from the Foundations of Geography text but will be moving to the first chapter of Discovering Washington as we continue our study of maps and geography.


This year in social studies we will be focusing on geography, maps, and the westward movement and the settlement of WA.  We will be using two texts:  Discovering Washington and Foundations of Geography.  We will be jumping between the two texts to support the development of the subject matter.  We will begin with Ch. 1 in Foundations of Geography.
