Mrs. Backstrom & Mrs. Parsons Room 16 November 4,2009
The big event of the week is the 50th day of school this Friday. We've
chosen to honor our grandparents on that afternoon with a 50's themed
gathering, and your child is encouraged to bring a grandparent or substitute
grandparent that day. The festivities begin in our classroom at 1:30. We
will walk to the gym for a mini Sock Hop at 2:00. We will end back in our
rooms for the last half hour. Your child and their grandparent may dress in
50's attire if they wish. We look forward to a fun time with these very
special folks! Your child brought home an information sheet about their
grandparents as part of the homework this week. Please assist them in
filling in this interesting information and returning it by Thursday.
Parent/Teacher conferences are coming up November 18 - 20th. We look forward
to this visit! You will need to call the school office to schedule a half-
hour time slot.
We are still pursuing poetry as a writing project. The students have
successfully composed a couplet, and will be working on a shape poem this
week.
