Bible Verses

Bible memorization is tested in writing, usually on the last day of the weekly lesson.  Knowing that it's not always easy to "get it" on the first try, I allow students to make up any missed memory verses up to the last week of school.  Of course, it's best to learn the passages as we work on them in class.

Here are the SECOND QUARTER Bible memory passages:

Lesson 1: James 2:21,22 (to be tested Monday, November 9)
"Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar?  You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did."

Lesson 2: James 2:12,13 (to be tested Monday, November 16)
"Speak and act as those who are going to be judged by the law that gives freedom, because judgment without mercy will be shown to anyone who has not been merciful.  Mercy triumphs over judgment!"

Lesson 3: James 3:9,10 (to be tested Wednesday, November 25)
"With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse men, who have been made in God's likeness.  Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing.  My brothers, this should not be."

Lesson 4: 1 John 1:5-6 (to be tested Friday, December 4)
"God is light; in him there is no darkness at all.  If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth."

Lesson 5: 1 John 4:19,20 (to be tested Friday, December 11)
"We love because he first loved us.  If anyone says, 'I love God,' yet hates his brother, he is a liar.  For anyone who does not love his brother, whom he has seen, cannot love God, whom he has not seen."

Lesson 6: 2 John 6 (to be tested Tuesday, January 5)
"And this is love: that we walk in obedience to his commands.  As you have heard from the beginning, his command is that you walk in love."

Lesson 7: 3 John 11 (to be tested Monday, January 11)
"Dear friend, do not imitate what is evil but what is good.  Anyone who does what is good is from God.  Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God."
