but it will be fun, too!):
Reading
Voabulary: Mastery of 10 words a week to build your vocabulary
Fluency: Daily activities (such as 6-Minute Solutions) to build your fluency
Independent reading goals: Read at least two novels each quarter; keep a log;
complete AR tests and projects
Reading test preparation activities/practice tests/discussions
Read alouds, book talks, and silent reading - always have a novel with you!
Writing
Writing test preparation activities/practice tests/discussions
Spelling activities to help you with those words that Spell Check doesn’t catch
Word games and Tables of Knowledge competitions
Creative/Informative/Persuasive writing projects: All types of writing, from
persuasive letters, to poetry, to descriptive essays, to pro/con debates.
History
1st Semester: Medieval World History and Beyond: Daily activities using
History Alive textbook, group activities, drama, art projects, group
projects, review games, and tests. Also, Geography Bee practice and
participation during the month of December.
2nd Semester: Washington State History (the only high school requirement you take in middle
school -- you must pass it here, or you have to take it again in high school!): Daily
activities, including text work, projects, tests, artwork, a field trip, and dramatic
productions.
Organization
Careful, daily use of our planners. We will learn how to track assignments and
get them all in, on time, every time!
Binder/backpack organization, so you can store and find all assignments easily.
