BLOCK PERIODS 2 & 3 - WEEK OF NOVEMBER 8TH-12TH
1. Library visit - renew books as needed/AR test, etc.
2. SSR- summaries done in class.
3. Review all the topics that have been covered in first quarter and what
expectations will be for second quarter.
4. Read a story from the literature book and answer questions in class.
5. A Veteran's Day assembly will be during the time that second period meets,
and with no school on Thursday, second will only meet three times this week.
PERIOD 4
1. Unit 7 begins on Monday - Renaissance and Reformation. The first chapter
is number 28 and will be outlined in their history spiral. After discussing
the chapter and outline, Assessment #28 will be done in class.
2. Chapter 28 will be introduced with worksheets done in class.
BLOCK PERIODS 2 & 3 - WEEK OF NOVEMBER 1ST-5TH
1. Library - check out book for November - choice of realistic or historical
fiction. There will be an AR test required for the November book.
2. Finish poem from last week-all done in class.
3. Grade Mug that was done in class last week.
4. Assessment on nouns and pronouns-done in class on Thursday. Review will
take place in class on Wednesday. Individual review at home would be helpful.
5. SSR-summaries done in class.
6. Reading log will be due Friday for first quarter. Students can explain.
PERIOD 4
1. Work on geography challenge #1 in class. This includes a map and
questions to answer. It covers Unit 1 which has been studied in September and
October.
2. Review Chapters 4, 5 and 6.
3. Assessment of all chapters in Unit 1.
4. Begin Unit 7-Europe's Renaissance and Reformation.
BLOCK PERIODS 2 & 3 - WEEK OF OCTOBER 25TH-29TH
1. Library - renew books, A/R tests, etc.
2. Spelling list - Each student will receive a handout with the words and
directions for the homework. This will be due Wednesday, October 27th. The
test of the words will be Friday, October 29th.

3. SSR on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday with summaries in spiral.
4. MUG paper to be done and graded in class.
5. Continue to review nouns and pronouns.
6. October book report due Friday, October 29th.
7. New genre for books will be discussed on Monday, November 1st with a
library visit.
8. Laptops in room on Friday to type a poem. They may choose from three
topics--Halloween, Thanksgiving and Veterans Day. The poem will be illustrated
after typing which will continue on Monday, November 1st.
BLOCK - PERIOD 4
1. Finish grading worksheets for Chapter 5 - discuss.
2. Grade assessment - Chapter 4 - discuss.
3. Assessment Chapter 5 - done in class. Grade and discuss.
4. Review Chapters 4 & 5 with list in spiral.
5. Start Chapter 6 - The Byzantine Empire.
BLOCK PERIODS 2 & 3 - WEEK OF OCTOBER 18TH-21ST
1. Book report form handed out on Monday-discuss. This is due on Friday,
October 29th.
2. Library-renew books, AR tests, etc.
3. Nouns and pronouns will continue with work done in class.
4. SSR on Tuesday and Wednesday with summaries written in class
from the book being read in October.
5. Work on laptops for a project called a Wordle page where students describe
a book they have written with nouns and adjectives and then print in a design
for display in class.
6. No class on Friday or homework over the three-day weekend.
BLOCK - PERIOD 4
1. Finish assessment #4-discuss and grade.
2. Review chapters 1-4 in class written in spiral and discussed.
3. Introduce Chapter 5-sections 5.1 and 5.2.
4. Begin worksheets covering 5.3-5.6--work on in class and discussed.
BLOCK PERIODS 2 & 3 - WEEK OF OCTOBER 11TH-15TH
Each of these periods will only meet three times this week due to the
conference schedule.
1. Library visit to renew books, AR tests, verify reading level of books.
2. Library Lab to create an individual reading list of suggested books for
the Star test reading level results. I will discuss these lists with each
student individually.
3. SSR as time allows. Continue review of common and proper nouns.
BLOCK - PERIOD 4
1. Finish power outlining Chapter 4 - discuss.
2. Assessment #4 - grade in class.
BLOCK - PERIODS 2 & 3 - WEEK OF OCTOBER 4TH-8TH
1. Library visit to choose October's book-needs to be a different genre than
the book chosen for September.
2. SSR - 3 days - wrote summaries about any book they are reading this week
including a paragraph written in their spiral from the book being read
underlining common and proper nouns.
3. Proper nouns - list and wrote sentences-shared in class.
4. Mug paragraphs - fixed errors and discussed.
4. Took Star test in library lab. This test gives the student an idea of
his/her reading level at the beginning of the 7th grade. I have been sharing
this information with each student individually and will finish the week of
October 11th. Each student will set a goal to read at an appropriate reading
level according to the test results.
BLOCK - PERIOD 4
1. Finished assessment #3-chapter 3.
2. Reviewed Chapters 2 and 3 with lists written on main ideas.
3. Introduction to Chapter 4 - daily life in medieval towns
Power outline the chapter in history spiral.
BLOCK-PERIODS 2 & 3 - WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 27-OCTOBER 1
MONDAY - Finish questions from the story "The Midwife's Apprentice" in spiral.
Discuss vocabulary words not understood in the story and the answers to the
questions.
Library visit to take AR test or renew book.
Anatomy/character descriptions and AR test due Thursday, September 30th.
TUESDAY - SSR-first 20 minutes. Summary - write about how the AR book
ended. This should be the book they will be writing about their character
descriptions and anatomy. Finish any discussion from Monday.
Define common nouns and write a list of words with a partner. Discuss.
Homework will be to write ten sentences with three or more common nouns in
each due on Thursday, September 30th. (Individually)
Common noun quiz on Thursday., September 30th.
WEDNESDAY - SSR-20-25 minutes. Make a list of common nouns from the pages
read during SSR. Discuss. Summary - write about the student's opinion of the
book read for the report.
THURSDAY - Anatomy/character description/AR test due. Volunteers to discuss
their reports. Turn in. Volunteers to read their noun sentences. Short quiz
on common nouns.
FRIDAY - SSR-20 minutes. Write a regular summary from any book being read
at this time. Review goals for the week of understanding common nouns,
descriptive character descriptions, information in an anatomy of a book.
BLOCK-PERIOD 4 - WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 27-OCTOBER 1
MONDAY - go over worksheets/test turned in on Friday for Chapter 2
"Feudalism in Western Europe"-History Alive. Begin worksheets on Chapter
3-"The Role of the Church in Medieval Europe". All of this work is done in
class unless a student is absent.
TUESDAY - continue with worksheets from Monday.
WEDNESDAY - discuss worksheets and the goal of understanding the role of the
Roman Catholic Church during the Middle Ages.
THURSDAY - assessment #3 for Chapter 3-grade in class.
