In Reading, we are continuing with the thinking strategy of "Determining Importance." Essentially, this strategy addresses the need to tend to certain information while disregarding other information. This includes skills such as: identifying main ideas and details, using text structure (such as Non-fiction cause/effect, sequential, etc.), and text features (such as captions, headings, etc.) There will be a quiz on this skill next week.
In Writing, students doing some peer editing/revising of their drafts, getting some feedback from me, and polishing their essays.
In Social studies, we will take the pre-test on Washington State Geography. This will not be graded, but is for me to see what the students already know about the state geography. After looking at the pre-test, there will be a 2-3 week study of Washington Geography, and then a post-test to assess.
