This is my fifth year teaching kindergarten at County Line. I absolutely love
kindergarten because there's nothing like seeing the growth that five and
six-year-old children make in a year. Teaching is actually a second career
for me. I got my undergraduate degree in Professional Communication at
Alverno College and worked in Marketing and Public Relations for six years
before deciding to go into teaching. I obtained my elementary teaching
certification in 2006 and my Master's degree in 2009, both from Cardinal
Stritch University. My husband, Brian, is a high school social studies
teacher for Milwaukee Public Schools. We have a sweet little dog named Petey,
and a spunky cat named Howie. When I'm not at school, I like to read, watch
tv, go to the movies, work on my house, make jewelry, and spend time with my
family and friends.
My main goals for the class are for my students to love learning and become
confident in their abilities. Kindergarten is a child's first experience with
formal schooling and I want to set the stage for a lifetime of excitement
about learning. I strive to create a fun, light-hearted, and nurturing
atmosphere for the students to become independent readers, writers and problem
solvers. I also believe that kindergarten is a place to discover, play, and
learn how to be a good friend.
