This is my 12th year teaching at Holy Family School, and my sixth year
teaching 2nd grade. I'm very excited for a fun year with your child, it's
such a big year ahead!
I am a Holy Name School alumni as a child and have been a member of Holy
Name Church all of my life. Teaching Christian values to the children as
well as the 2 sacraments of Reconciliation and Holy Eucharist are very
rewarding to me, along with teaching the other
subjects.
I am currently working towards my masters degree in curriculum and
instruction through UW Oshkosh.
I have been married for 10 years and have a 8 1/2 year old son, Marshall and
a 4 year old girl, named Paige. Needless to say, I have a busy life in and
out of school!
If you ever have any questions or concerns, please feel comfortable asking
me, either visiting our classroom, email, notes, or calling school. Your
child's education is very important to me, and I will do what I can to make
2nd grade a successful year for your child!
My mission for 2nd grade is to strengthen reading and writing skills, since
Language Arts is my teaching minor. I think those are 2 of the most
important subjects to keep polishing in 2nd grade, that will carry on into
3rd grade.
Math is so important as well for everyday skills that we use as adults. In
2nd grade we are still building the base of learning our mathematical
abilities and enhancing them.
Our science program is another very exciting subject to
teach, especially seeing the wonder and fascination kids have about the
unknown of everyday Science concepts! We do not have textbooks, so there is
all hands-on learning. This makes learning easier and fun for this age level.
Of course, being a Catholic teacher, religion is extremely important to me
to pass on knowledge and faith values to the children. 2nd grade is a
huge year with receiving the holy sacraments of Reconciliaton and First
Eucharist, along with our school nativity play in December.
One of the main reasons I am in the teaching field is to see children's
growth academically, socially, and spiritually over the course of the school
year. Making a difference in children's lives and showing them how learning
can be fun is another one of my beliefs in teaching!
