Dear Parents,
On Monday we celebrated the 100th Day of School. The children were very
excited to share their projects and to learn a bit of what life was like 100
years ago. I thank you for helping your child plan and complete the project.
This past Tuesday our class was responsible for leading the faith
community in prayer at Mass. I thank you for your help in practicing the
reading with your child. The children were well-prepared and prayerful.
This week we received a suitcase filled with books and activities from
Antarctica. Did you know Antarctica is a desert continent?
I am grateful to all the parents I met with this week during conferences.
Working together we are able to guide your child in realizing his/her talents
and in reaching his/her potential. If you were unable to meet at any of the
scheduled times, please contact me, as alternative arrangements can be made.
Beginning next week Friday, February 17, students will be assessed weekly
on a given set of addition and subtraction facts. Yes, we do drill and
practice in school, but these facts must be memorized and mastered.
Therefore, children need to practice and review these facts daily at home in
order to achieve automaticity and accuracy.
Finally, February 14, Valentine's Day, is fast approaching. For our
class party I only request that each child brings valentines for each member
of the class AND either a generous-sized, but for one child, serving of either
a raw fruit or raw vegetable for class fruit and vegetable platters. I will
provide the dips and other activities for our classroom party. Since we are
learning about healthy choices, this will be a great opportunity to discover
that fruits and vegetables can be treats. I thank you for your cooperation
and understanding.
February Blessings,
