I am a graduate of Alverno College with a B.A. in English/Elementary Education.
I have over 30 years experience teaching and learning with first through sixth
graders in Wisconsin and in California. I consider learning a life-long
pursuit, having enrolled in countless graduate courses, while pursuing varied
interests independently. I enjoy traveling, reading, cooking, and
window-shopping. I am a parent with an adult son and a daughter-in-law.
The following poem by Arden Thompson expresses my philosophy of teaching/learning.
Schools should be magical places
Where bright holes are poked into
The fabric of tomorrow...
Where questions are more important
Than answers, ideas, and profits...
A noisy, messy, exciting, now-place
Where children can find
Their own place in the universe
And become whole, and so holy,
While sitting in the sun
With their teachers
Watching ants.
We will learn all we can about God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. We will learn
what it means to be a Catholic Christian. WE LOVE GOD.
We will learn all about God's world. We will learn how to learn. WE LOVE TO
LEARN.
We will learn how to care and help and serve others. We will learn how to
love. WE LOVE.
