What happens when my child will miss school because of a family vacation?

Fill out an absence form, which can be obtained in the office. If
adequate notice is provided, I will send homework with your
child the day before you will be leaving. The homework will
include complete instructions. Homework must be returned
completed when your child returns to school. Missed tests will be
made up when your child returns.

Do we have field trips? Can I chaperone?

Check the calendar for up coming field trips. All field trips are
educational and provide connections to the learning in our
classroom. Chaperones are chosen by lottery.

How can I volunteer in my child's classroom?

Sign up at open house, email me or give us a call. I encourage
parents to help in our classroom. Let us know if you can help
weekly, occasionally, or would like to help from home. At the very beginning
of the school year I will be learning about your child's strengths and needs
in the classroom. I will be inviting parents into the classroom after I have
accomplished this important work and have classroom routines clearly
established. Thank you in advance for your patience.

How do I get my child's homework when they are sick?

Call the office early in the day and they will let me know that
you have requested homework. Please allow ample time for me to
prepare the work. You can pick it up or I can send the work
with a sibling or neighbor. I will not send work unless it is
requested as I will assume that your child is too ill to complete work.

What should I do if my child does not understand the homework?

Please call me. My phone number, home and cell is on the front of the purple
folder (Phone numbers also listed below). I prefer to get a phone call at home
rather than have your child stay in for recess or stay after school for
homework club to complete homework.

Will we have snack time?

Students provide their own healthy snack for snack time which is
in the afternoon. Please make sure to tell your child to save something from
their lunch for their snack or you may want to put their snack in a separate
container.

Can I send a birthday snack for my child's birthday?

Only store bought treats are allowed for birthdays. We will
celebrate your child's birthday on their actual birthday or as
close to the day as possible (if it on the weekend). Summer
birthdays are celebrated in May and June as an "unbirthday" we
will contact summer birthday families closer to that time to
choose a date.
