About Me

I grew up in the great state of Wisconsin. After graduating from the
University of Wisconsin in Madison in 1995, I promptly moved to Denver,
Colorado where I enjoyed an active lifestyle surrounded by mountains. I
lived in Colorado for ten years, and even though I have moved back to my
roots, Colorado holds a special place in my heart.

My teaching career began ten years ago in a first grade classroom. After
teaching first and second grade for several years, I became increasingly
interested in how children learn to read. I enjoyed helping the students in
my classrooms learn to read, and enjoyed finding different ways to help those
who struggled in this area.

Upon moving to Wisconsin, I taught Kindergarten for one year, and was then
offered a position as the Reading Teacher for the building and could not
refuse. I now enjoy working with students who struggle in the area of
reading. I work with them individually or in small groups to acquire the
skills they need to be life long readers.

Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am married to a
wonderful man, Kevin and together we have two children; Sierra (5) and Landon
(3). Life with two pre-schoolers keeps us pretty busy, and we enjoy watching
them grow and learn above all else. We live in the small town of Spring
Grove, Illinois, where we enjoy all of the family geared festivities
throughout the year.

These days free time is hard to find, but if we're lucky enough to carve out
any, we enjoy exploring different events and attractions with our children.
My husband and I are also certified SCUBA divers, and we promise ourselves
that we will get back to that sport once time and finances allow. :)
