What can I do to help my child at home?

The single most important thing you can do to support your child
is to read with him or her at home each night. In addition to
this, please make sure your child completes his or her nightly
homework and offer assistance as needed.

How can I volunteer in my child's classroom?

An extra pair of hands is always welcome in First Grade! If you
are interested in sharing your time and talents, please contact
me. I send out a sign-up sheet monthly to parents that have
indicated they would like to volunteer. After I receive the
sheets back, I will put together a Parent Volunteer calendar that
shows which days each parent is scheduled to come in. Thank you
for your interest in helping!

You can reach my by phone or Email during school hours. Notes can

assignment notebook. I check each of these daily.

My child was sick. How do I get his or her missed work?

When you call the office to report that your child will be absent
due to an illness, please notify them at that time if you would
like work sent home for the day and what time it will be picked
up. Otherwise, a folder with missed work will be sent home to be
completed when your child returns to school.

Can I send in birthday treats for my child?

You are welcome to send in special treats for birthdays and other
celebrations. Please note that homemade goods are not allowed.
All treats must be store bought and still sealed when they are
brought to school. Please have your child bring in their treats
first thing in the morning or drop them off in the office for
your child. You are welcome to share in the celebration however
if you are planning to do so please send me a note so I can let
you know what time we will have the celebration. Additionally, we
usually set aside about 15 minutes in the afternoon for a
birthday. Please keep this time frame in mind when planning
treats to share.

If your child has invitations to pass out for a birthday party,
please send these in his or her B.E.E. Book and I will distribute
them prior to dismissal. If you are not planning on inviting
everyone in the class, the invitations must be mailed.

We also celebrate half birthdays in first grade! If your child
has a birthday during non-school months, I will send home a
postcard notifying you of his or her half birthday.
