WATCH D.O.G.S.® (Dads Of Great Students) is the safe school initiative of
the National Center for Fathering that involves fathers and father figures
to help create a more safe and secure learning environment in our nation's
schools.
Who are WatchDOGS? Fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, uncles, and other
father figures who volunteer to serve at least one day each year in a
variety of school activities as assigned by the school principal or other
administrator.
WATCH D.O.G.S.® was founded by Jim Moore, a concerned father who chose to
take action in response to a 1998 middle-school shooting in Jonesboro, AR.
Moore wanted to help prevent violence from occurring at his children’s
school or at any school. The first program was launched at George Elementary
in Springdale, AR, the school of Moore’s oldest child. Today, more than 500
programs in 25 states participate in WATCH D.O.G.S.®
