Mrs. Knight |
FAQ
What are Mrs. Knight's classroom rules? I expect students to follow all school rules in my classroom. In addition, students must adhere to the following rules while in my classroom: 1. Be on time -- in your seat and ready to work when the tardy bell rings. 2. Come to class prepared with all materials. 3. No food, drinks, or gum in class. 4. Cell phones are not to be on or used during class time. 5. Respect others and their property. 6. Do not touch windows, blinds, screens, fans, SMART Board, or anything on Mrs. Knight's desk without permission. 7. Clean your desk and throw away your trash at the end of the class period. What are the consequences if a student chooses to break a rule? The consequences will vary based on the severity of the offense. For minor offenses, the student will first receive a warning. If the problem continues, the consequence will be detention (in increments of 15 minutes), a written assignment, and/or a parent phone call. Continued defiance will result in intervention by the administration. For more severe offenses, no warnings will be given and any or all of the above actions may be taken immediately. A note about cell phone use: School policy states if you use a phone during school, the teacher may take it for one week (first offense). In addition to taking the phone, I will also call parents to let them know the student is using the phone inappropriately. What are the rewards of following the rules? If all students follow the rules, the classroom will be a safe and secure place where students can experience the joy of learning. I will praise the students regularly and send positive notes home. If that is not enough, I will reward the students with movies (related to what we are studying), snacks, and other various perks throughout the year. How should I prepare for Mrs. Knight's class? For ENGLISH classes, students must keep a 3-ring binder with separate sections for Vocab, Grammar, Spelling, Writing, and Literature. The binder, a writing utensil, and the prayer book are to be brought to class everyday. I will post what books are needed for the day on the dry erase board outside my classroom. If you are in doubt of which books to bring, check the board before class, or just bring all the books. The dry erase board is a COURTESY I extend to the students so that they do not have to carry the heavy literature book when it is not needed. I will take away this privilege if I find that students are not bothering to read it or if the board is defaced in any way. YEARBOOK students should also use a 3-ring binder, and should bring their binder, a writing utensil, and prayer book to class everyday. Yearbook staff members should also have a camera with them everyday to take photos and to upload them to the computer (be sure to keep expensive cameras with you or in a LOCKED locker!) Yearbook staffers should also keep a small notebook with them to jot down interesting things that happen, quotes, interview questions, or other random yearbook-related thoughts throughout the day. How can I get some extra credit? See course outlines for details on how to receive extra credit. |
