Homework

Please have your Spiral and your Theme Skills Test signed by Friday.
Study for Thursday's Social Studies Test. Several worksheets have been sent
home for review. Textbooks were sent home today for study. Flashcards should
be studied daily!

This is a Summative Test week, so there will be no story of the week. We
will review and be tested on decoding, word recognition, vocabulary,
comprehension, writing strategies, language conventions, and listening.

See the new link for Noun Dunk to practice common and proper nouns!

BLOG NOTES: Our newest post, "Classic, Captivating Collections" is on our
blog. Please read and comment. Remember to have parent permission to be on
the computer, and have a parent proofread your comment!

Spelling: There is no written homework. Keep studying your words.

Language Arts: There is no written homework. Remember to keep reading.
               Reading Counts deadline is Friday.

Math: There is no homework. Keep practicing multiplication facts!

We have started Multiplication. The Family Letter for Chapter 9 has
gone home. Now is the time to start memorizing multiplication facts.
Start with 2s and 5s. Then go to 3s and 4s. Learning to skip count by
these numbers really helps! Timed tests will start after we have
worked on all facts up to x9.
Students who have not yet passed the subtraction timed test will
retake the test on Friday, October 30th.

Reading Counts: Bring a Reading Counts book to school every day. This same
book is to be taken home for 20 minutes of independent silent reading at home.
Month 1 for Reading Counts ends on October 16th. 3 books = A, 2 books = B, 1
book = C. For the first deadline, no written work will be required. Next
month a short summary will be required for each book. Instructions and forms
will be given in class.
Please make sure your child has a Reading Counts book at all times.
Remember that the schoolhouse icon on the homepage will take you to the
Chaparral School website. I have a page on this website as well, with some
additional information and documents that can be downloaded. In addition, you
can access the Reading Counts list from the school website. You can find it by
going to Learning Links and clicking on Chaparral Library.
