Below are the High Frequency (HF) Words that will be introduced in our Open Court Reading program in First Grade. Children should memorize HF Words and be able to read them automatically, without having to sound out-see below for dates. Begin with Unit 1 HF words, and once this list is memorized, move on to the next. I will provide a parent responce sheet in your child's S.T.A.R. binder so that you may notify me if your child is ready to be tested prior to the testing dates indicated below. Once one HF list is memorized, students should continue on to the next list until all of the HF words are memorized. Once you have memorized all the words, practice spelling them correctly in your writing.
