Hello and welcome to my website. I appreciate your visit and look forward to
a wonderful year working together. I ask the students in my classes to write
me a letter of introduction so I will also do the same.
Dear Students and Parents,
I am very excited to be teaching three sections of American
Government/Contemporary World Studies and two sections of Psychology this
year. These subjects are not only my greatest passions; they are subjects I
majored in during my undergraduate studies.
After graduating from high school in Southern California, I attended UC Davis
where I earned a B.A. in Political Science with an emphasis in public service
and a B.S. in Human Development. I then attended Stanford University where I
pursued a M.A. in Education and my teaching credential in Social Studies.
This is my sixth year teaching and my fourth year at Paly. I enjoy being in
the classroom because the students are engaging and every day is a little
different. My classroom goals include creating an equitable, safe, and fun
learning environment where students can acquire knowledge about the world in
which they live and discuss current relevant issues.
To help me accomplish these goals, it is important that students come to class
ready to participate. It is equally important to show respect to everyone in
the classroom. This means being particularly aware of the language that one
uses as well as being helpful and polite. Parents can help by talking to
their children on a regular basis about their child's performance in class and
about current issues in the news.
I look forward to a great year!
Ms. McDaniel
My mission is to engage the class in meaningful activities to strengthen
skills and content knowledge, to avoid busy work and have fun while learning.
