We have begun our first Teacher Read Aloud book of the year, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.  Second graders always enjoy this story about a boy and his wonderful adventure.  This book allows children a chance to think about our school's focus on PRIDE (partnership, respect, integrity, determination, and empathy) in the context of a great childrens' novel.  Ask your second grader what has happened to this point in the story.

We have completed our self-portraits, all about me stars, and sailboat glyphs.  Hopefully you were able to enjoy them in our classrooms at Back to School Night.

The beginning of the year offers great opportunities for community building as we begin a new year working and learning together.
