September 2nd-5th:
Students have worked with fantansy and realism through a big book story
called Minerva Louise this week. It's a funny story about a hen who wonders
away from the farm and thinks the red school house is a big red barn. Ask
your first grader about some of the things she mistook as items back on the
farm.
Anthology Stories: Our anthology stories this week are What Can a Vet Do and
Hot Fox Soup. These are grade level texts that both support the two genres,
fantasy and realism.
Phonics: Working with short e sounds.
Vocabulary development: Opposites and foods
