textbook.  On page 341, select and define 5 "Vocabulary" terms, and on page
335, answer the two "Reading Objectives" questions (due tomorrow).  2. Current
event due Friday.

Tuesday (12/2):  1. Read pages 342-349 (Chapter 6/Section 2--"Empire Building
in Africa") of the textbook.  Find all 7 red major headings in the text and
give at least 3 main points for each heading (due Thursday).  2. Current event
due Friday.

Wednesday (12/3):  Continuation of last night's homework assignment:  1. Read

Industrial Revolution") of the textbook.  On page 261, select and define 5
"Vocabulary" terms, and answer the following two questions:  a. List six
factors that allowed industrialization to occur in Britain first. and b.
Describe the life of a child during the Industrial Revolution (due tomorrow).

Wednesday (11/12):  Read page 265 (the section on "The Congress of Vienna") of
the textbook.  Answer the following question:  Explain the goals of European
leaders at the Congress of Vienna (due Friday).

Thursday (11/13):  Continuation of last night's homework:  Read page 265 (the
section on "The Congress of Vienna") of the textbook.  Answer the following
question:  Explain the goals of European leaders at the Congress of Vienna
(due tomorrow).

Friday (11/14):  Read pages 280-285 (Chapter 4/Section 4--"Culture: 
Romanticism and Realism") of the textbook.  On page 285, select and define 5
"Vocabulary" terms and answer "Critical Thinking" questions #4 and #5 (due
Tuesday).

Week of 9/8 thru 9/12:

Monday (9/8):  Write at least one paragraph (of at least 5 sentences)
explaining your opinion of what should be done with the site of the World
Trade Center (due tomorrow).

Tuesday (9/9):  Read pages 134-141 (Chapter 1/Section 2:  The Civilization of
the Greeks) of the text.  Outline the section as you read it, using the
headings in the text as the skeletal structure of the outline (due Thursday).

Wednesday (9/10):  Continuation of last night's homework assignment (due
tomorrow).

Thursday (9/11):  No homework assigned.

Friday (9/12):  Read pages 144-151 (Chapter 1/Section 3--"Rome and the Rise of
Christianity") of the textbook.  Define at least 5 "Vocabulary" words from 
the list on page 151.  Also answer the 2 "Reading Objectives" questions on
page 144 (due Tuesday).



Week of 9/1 thru 9/5:

Monday (9/1):  Labor Day Holiday--No school today.

Tuesday (9/2):  1. Give your parent/guardian the syllabus you received in
class today.  Have them review it (as well as the login instructions to the
grade website) and then have them fill out and sign the Parent/Guardian
portion of the  Syllabus Signature Sheet at the back of the syllabus.  Make
sure you fill out and sign the Student portion at the top of the Syllabus
Signature Sheet, detach the entire page from the rest of the syllabus, and
return it to class (due tomorrow).  2. Finish writing out your "2 Truths/1
False" (due tomorrow).  3. Before you take your textbook home on the day you
check it out of the library, bring it by Room 622 and have either Ms. West or
Mr. Bleecker confirm that the textbook is yours (make sure you have written
your name AND school year IN INK in the appropriate place on the inside cover).

Wednesday (9/3):  1. If you haven't turned in your signed Syllabus Signature
Sheet, please do so tomorrow.  2. Before you take your textbook home on
the day you check it out of the library, bring it by Room 622 and have either
Ms. West or Mr. Bleecker confirm that the textbook is yours (make sure you
have written your name AND school year IN INK in the appropriate place on the
inside cover).

Thursday (9/4):  Write at least 2 paragraphs (at least 5 sentences per paragraph)
in answer to "Why Study History?"  You can utilize any of the ideas discussed in
class today (due tomorrow).

Friday (9/5):  No homework assigned.
