*How to Research Using the Kern County Library Database from Home*

Research using the Kern County Library Electronic Resources database. This data base features magazines, encyclopedias, journals, and newspapers NOT THE WORLD WIDE WEB! You can access this valuable resource at home. All you need is an Internet connection, library card number, and the last 4 digits of your phone number (this number is used as your PIN#)

STEPS:

1. Go to:

http://www.kerncountylibrary.org/

2. Click on Electronic Resources on the left menu

3. Click on “In the library” next to the resource you want to use. I liked Kids Infobits.

4. Enter your library card number and PIN # (last four digits of your phone number)

5. Unclick “Select All” at the top left, and then scroll down to your selection. Kid Infobits is at the bottom.

6. If you are searching Kid Infobits, be sure to select different tabs at the top. For example: Reference, magazines, or newspapers.

Digital Photography Field Trip Information

The Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve will be opening this Friday with the first blooms just starting. To take advantage of the promising abundance of wildflowers this year, we are rescheduling our field trip to:

April 4th, meeting at Albertson’s parking lot at 8:00 AM, and then carpooling out to the reserve. I have room for 4 students in my car. Please let me know ASAP if you want to fill a spot. We should be back to Tehachapi by 2:00. Parking at the Reserve is $5.00 per car, but I am in the process of getting a discount because it is a school field trip. I will let you know.

This field trip will be open to a few extra families. If you know of a family that is interested in joining us, please have them email me at crosander@sbcglobal.net

Please bring:  lunch, water, sunscreen, camera (of course), close toed shoes, and layered clothing
