Our Valley Oaks Staff has been working very hard getting ready for our upcoming school year. A new addition to our program is our site Assistant Principal, Deanna Downs. Some of you may know her as one of our former Resource Teachers. She is excited at the prospect of getting to know more of our families. Deanna will be able to assist with any of your questions or concerns, and cannot wait to support you in meeting your child's needs. Turn in a completed August Collection Sheet by Friday, August 22nd (to your Resource teacher) to be entered in a drawing for a gift certificate to the Ice Cream place of your choice! Be sure to put your student's name and Resource teacher's name on the Collection Sheet. (Extra Collection Sheets in Classroom A). Remember to watch for details of the BIG VALLEY OAKS BOX TOPS CONTEST in the September edition of the Acorn Newsletter. Ask for a password from your resource teacher. Then go to www.valleyoaks.shutterfly.com , enter the password click ok, click on the album you would like to view, then click View as Slideshow, and it is as easy as that. If you would like to order a copy of a picture, you can sign-up with Shutterfly and order copies or just enjoy the show. _________________________________________________________ PERFECT 10 GYMNASTICS SIGN UPS Perfect 10 Gymnastics will again be offering the Gymnastics Vendor Service for the 2008/2009 school year for K through 8th grade VOCS students. Classes meet once per week at Perfect 10 Gymnastics, ~WORKSHOPS~ ***NEW WORKSHOP SESSION 1 SIGN UPS Sign ups for Session 1 Workshops is September 5th from 1:00 PM to 5:00 PM in Classroom A. Worshop Session 1 begins the week of September 15th and runs through the week of October 13th. The workshop schedule and class descriptions will be posted on the Workshop Schedule link on the homepage of the VOCS Tehachapi web site the week of September 2nd-5th ~FIELDTRIPS~ ***NEW MOJAVE COURTHOUSE FIELD TRIP FOR 6TH-8TH GRADES - FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 12TH, 8:45 AM-12:00 PM This field trip is sponsored by the Tehachapi Optimist Club and includes an essay contest, "My Day in Court" with a $50.00 savings bond for 2 student winners.
