Third grade students at Porter School are expected to spend 30 minutes Monday
through Thursday on homework. The assignments are review or reinforcement of
a skill or activity already taught in class. We hope that the student does
the assignment independently, although some help from parents may be
necessary. If your child spends an unusually long time on an assignment, or
seems to be having difficutly with a concept, please make a note in the
homework book and I will review the situation. If your child completes the
assignment quickly, I suggest quiet reading or review of math facts. I would
appreciate it if you would initial the the homework book when completed.
Homework in third grade is intended to encourage good future study habits,
not to be a negative experience for students or their families.
