Homework is assigned beginning in September. Homework is generally
sent home Monday through Thursday and should take approximately 10 minutes
to complete. The Math homework sheets correspond with the day's lesson and
should be completed by your child and checked by you.
The homework will usually have two sides. One is a review, which will most
often be completed in class. Check your child's answers and correct together
any errors. The back of the paper is the homework assignment. Have your
child do as much as possible independently and then review and correct the
problems together.
Reading is encouraged as a daily routine in Grade One. Take turns
reading aloud to your child and having him/her read to you! Set aside a
quiet time in a comfortable setting to enjoy the family bonding that takes
place when you share a story together.
