| Hults’ Grading Rationale & Classroom Expectations 2007-2008
1. It is expected that
• you will have a 3-ring binder with separate sections for class
notes, homework assignments, and a place to keep unit quizzes.
OR
• you will have 2 spiral notebooks, one for class notes, one for
homework, AND a folder to store unit quizzes.
• a folder at home to store tests which should be used to study for
semester exams.
• you will come to class each day with two writing utensils (black or
blue pens, or sharpened pencils) – writing utensils will not be loaned or
given
• you will bring a graphing TI-83/84 calculator – cell phones are
prohibited in class.
2. It is expected that you will complete every assignment and have it with
you on the day it is due – late homework will not be accepted.
• If you are absent for an excused reason, YOU are responsible for
obtaining the assignments and responsible for turning them in within the
time specified by the attendance policy. The website below is a great
source for finding assignments.
• If you have a scheduled absence it is your responsibility to arrange
for assignments and extra help in advance.
3. You are not expected to spend more than 30 minutes on any homework
assignment.
4. Your grade each marking period will be determined by tests and quizzes
counting 80%, homework counting 15%, and notebooks counting 5%. All tests
will be
announced. If you are absent the day before a test or quiz, you will still
be required to take the test or quiz. Homework will be checked 3-5 times a
week. For each incomplete homework, 1 point will be deducted from your
quarter average (up to a total of 15 points). Notebooks will be checked at
varying points through out the marking quarters as needed. “Extra credit”
work and/or projects are non-existent. There are plenty of tests, quizzes,
and in-class opportunities to demonstrate your effort and knowledge.
5. Extra help is available on most days before school and promptly after
school. No appointment is necessary, but it is recommended to check ahead
of time. It is the student’s responsibility to be prepared for extra help
by completing homework assignments and having specific questions. It is
important for your success, that you are aware of what you do not
understand, and to keep up with the course on a day-to-day basis. The key
to learning is participation and practice.
6. All other school policies involving tardies, detentions, behavior etc,
will be followed accordingly. Rules and policies may be altered at any time
through out the year if necessary. Adequate notification will be given
prior to any change.
7. Students are expected to adopt and maintain a mature, responsible
attitude toward the course, its requirements, the teacher, and classmates.
