Dear Beaver Ridge Community, I can’t believe we are already into the month of February. February is a very busy month for our students and staff. First off, February is a very special month as we celebrate African-American History at Beaver Ridge ES. Our theme this year is called The Great Time Travel Adventure. During our Social Studies Night next Tuesday February 14th, students and parents will be able to rotate through the classrooms to complete activities to the social studies curriculum. They will be introduced to famous people and events from history that have impacted our world. We will also have hallway displays of famous inventors, athletes, and authors. Also that evening, our wonderful drama students will be participating in a school play. They will have a presentation called: Time Travel: Back in History.
Our students will also be participating in our next round of interim testing (Benchmarks). Students in grade 1-2, will be assessed the reading, language arts and math interims. Students in grades 3-5 will also take the three subject area interims mentioned above as well as the science and social studies interims. Please make sure your child is at school every day and on time. Once testing begins, we cannot allow the students into the room to test. They will have to make up the test at a later time. This next round of Interims is very important as the results from these interims will allow us to get a good indication of where our students are in preparation for our CRCT exams in April. We will analyze the data carefully and put interventions in place for students that may need extra support.
The after-school Extended learning program is in full swing. Our students will get extra help from our teachers in the area of math, reading and language arts. We have all our available slots filled and do have a waiting list. If your child is picked up late twice, or if your child has any behavior issues during the program, they will be asked to exit the program and we will fill that slot with a student from the waiting list.
Once again, may you have a great week and thank you for your continued support.
Mr. DeJesus Principal
