| Dear Parents and Students,
It is hard to believe that September is already here. We are both very
excited to work with your children. We have gotten to know them extremely
well in a short period of time. We are constantly commenting on how sweet
this group of children really are.
We quickly got into the swing of things in our classroom and I'm sure
you have seen an adjustment period at home. We do assign homework every night
and I try my best to post it on the website daily. Your child should be
spending no longer than one and a half hours per night on homework, including
reading log. We have also stressed time management with the class and
explained that if they each used their time wisely in class the burden of
homework would be less. There are plenty of opportunities throughout the day
for your children to be working on upcoming assignments once they complete
classwork. We have had an enormous amount of children attend study hall
within the past few weeks which has been alarming to us. We take
approximately fifteen minutes at the end of the day to write in agendas,
check agendas, and get packed up;this is more than enough guidance to get the
children out the door with everything they need. So,please refrain from
bringing your child's homework in for them or coming to pick up their books
they forgot at school. This will only enable them to not be responsible for
their homework and it is not fair to those children whose parents are not
able to bring their work into school. We apprecitae your support in this
matter. Remember, homework is for a grade in middle school!!!
We look forward to seeing many of you on our curriculum night this
Thursday. We will be going over classroom expectations for the school year as
well as answer any questions you may have. For those of you who are unable to
attend I will be posting the PowerPoint on the website. This PowerPoint will
remain up all school year for your reference.
Thank you for your time,
Jennifer Reardon and Sarah Brown
