Homework and Spelling

Reading:

We are enjoying the benefits of our "Reading Log" parties and continue to
exceed our goal. We appreciate your continued support of this reading at home
and feel this is the best way for your child to continue to increase his or
her reading and ZPD levels.

Here are some quick and easy ways to review for our weekly Spelling
assessments:

>Have your child find the spelling words in stories that they read at home.
>Give a definition of the word instead of the word itself...this will help
develop vocabulary as well.
>Have your child use the word in a sentence (orally or in written format)or
have them tell you the definition of the word.
>Have your child identify different vowel or consonant patterns in the
week's list.
>"I'm thinking of a word that has a suffix that is added to the base word
(root word) loud.
>Which spelling word rhymes with...?

The process doesn't have to be a cumbersome one...just a simple way to help
your child to success!
